HIPA Announces Merit Medal Recipients for Thirteenth Season
20 Photographers Recognised for Outstanding Submissions in the 'Sustainability' Season
The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) has announced its ‘Merit Medal’ recipients for the recently concluded Thirteen Season, ‘Sustainability’. 20 photographers have been recognised for their submissions across the season’s categories. They will each be awarded the HIPA Merit Medal along with a copy of HIPA’s annual book.
Commenting on this announcement, the Secretary General of HIPA, Ali Bin Thalith said, “This honour serves as a certificate of appreciation and recognition for the photographers whose works demonstrated exceptional value and deserved to reach the final stages. Therefore, our Board of Trustees has decided to award them this well-deserved commendation as both encouragement and acknowledgement of the high level of competition among their submissions. We are pleased that five Arab photographers have received this honour, reflecting the ongoing growth and commitment of Arab photographers in mastering the art and techniques of photography.”
Bin Thalith added, “In its commitment to providing greater opportunities to recognise more outstanding photographs, the Board of Trustees relied on the results of a judging process led by a panel of some of the world's most renowned photography experts. They selected a group of photographs that received high ratings to be commended, with their creators honoured. Personally, I view this honour as a 'stepping stone to victory’, and it serves as a powerful source of motivation for aspiring photographers.”
Out of the 20 recipients, four were honoured in the ‘Sustainability’ category, four were in the ‘Portfolio’ category, two in the ‘General - Colour’ category and two in the ‘General Black and White’ category. Additionally, four recipients were recognised for ‘Sports Photography’ and four belonged to the ‘Short Videos’ created for social media.
The HIPA Merit Medals were designed by Emirati artist and member of the HIPA Board of Trustees, Mattar Bin Lahej.
